SAUK CROSS COUNTRY QUALIFIES 6 OF 8 FOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The Sauk Valley Skyhawks traveled to Carl Sandburg College in Galesburg for the NJCAA Region IV Cross Country Championships on Saturday. The course was set up around Carl Sandburg College and had the women running a 5k and the men running an 8k.  

The Skyhawks had a fantastic finish from Haley Weidner with a 5th place finish in a time of 20:08 which made her an All-Region performer. She was joined as an All-Region runner by Xheneta Beqiri who finished in 12th place in a time of 21:08. Kelynn Boyle finished in 21st place with a time of 22:17, and Nataleigh Nugent in 25th place with a time of 23:04. All four women qualified for the NJCAA National Meet in Albuquerque, New Mexico.  

The men were paced by Dillion Forbeck with a 25th place finish with a time of 30:32. He was followed by Ruben Leal with a time of 31:50 (30th place finish); Dylan Pavlak in 33:01 (36th place); and Cameron Gonzalez in 33:16 (38th place). Dillion Forbeck and Ruben Leal will be going to the NJCAA National Meet as well.
